How I Put AI to the Test as a Time-Saving Superpower
Imagine a world where your day plans itself, your health metrics update seamlessly, and your projects practically complete themselves—all thanks to artificial intelligence. Sounds like a dream, right? That’s what I set out to explore in this experiment: how AI tools could help me save time, get more done, and simplify my life.
I tested five AI-powered tools—Motion, Designerr, Garmin Wearable, Renpho scale, and SmartGym—each tailored to a specific task, from managing my day to writing an eBook and even tracking my fitness. The results? Eye-opening. Read on to discover what worked, what didn’t, and how these tools could transform your daily grind
The Experiment: Can AI Streamline Your Life?
To test the time-saving power of AI, I assigned specific tasks to five tools:
- Motion: For planning and managing my day.
- Designerr: For drafting and formatting an eBook.
- Garmin Wearable: For tracking my workouts and daily activity.
- Renpho Scale: For monitoring my weight and body composition.
- SmartGym: For creating and optimizing workout plans.
Each tool was evaluated based on its ease of use, effectiveness, and the amount of time it saved compared to doing the same tasks manually. The goal? To find out if AI could truly help me reclaim time without compromising on quality.
Results: How Much Time Did AI Really Save?
Here’s what I found after using each tool for a week:
1. Motion: Scheduled my entire day in under 10 minutes. Tasks that used to require constant juggling now felt like a breeze.
2. Designerr: Turned 5 ideas into a professional-looking eBook in less than an hour TOTAL—a task that would typically take me a full week.
3. Garmin Wearable: Automatically logged my steps, heart rate, and sleep quality. Reviewing my fitness data took just 5 minutes a day, down from 30 minutes of manual tracking.
4. Renpho Scale: Synced seamlessly with my phone, giving me instant insights into body composition metrics. Time saved: 15 minutes per check-in. (or an hour to visit a professional, so extra money saved also)
5. SmartGym: Designed a week’s worth of customized workouts in under 20 minutes, compared to hours spent manually planning routines.
Overall Time Saved: Around 30-40% per task—a noticeable boost that freed up hours for more things I wouldn't have time for like learning a language or reading.
What Worked (and What Didn’t): Surprises and Lessons
The Hits
- Motion: Its ability to automatically adjust my schedule based on shifting priorities was a game-changer. No more mental gymnastics trying to reshuffle my day. The UI (user interface) was easy to navigate and use and the color coding capabilities made organizing even better. This has been my favorite tool so far.
- Designerr: Made self-publishing feel effortless, with polished templates and easy-to-use design features. The AI capabilities made this s freakin breeze.
- Garmin Wearable: The real-time fitness insights kept me motivated and on track with my goals.
The Misses
- Renpho Scale: While the data was accurate, syncing issues occasionally slowed me down. The insights seem to be accurate but because my husband and I share the scale it confused our data often.
- SmartGym: The pre-built workout suggestions were solid, but creating truly personalized plans required more input than I expected. I also think you get more bang for your buck with other comparable apps that have more features baked in. This was my least favorite so far.
Pro Tip: While AI can handle repetitive tasks like a champ, don’t expect it to replace human insight for complex or highly personalized needs.
Who This Is For: Finding the Right AI Tool for You
Not all AI tools are created equal, and their usefulness depends on your personality and goals. Here’s who might benefit most from each tool:
- Motion: Ideal for busy professionals and multitaskers who need to manage packed schedules. As a full time working mom of 4 including a special needs kiddo and toddler with busy preteens also, managing my schedule is a constant hassle. This made it easy to juggle everything including finding extra time for my own interests.
- Designerr: A must-have for writers, bloggers, and entrepreneurs looking to produce polished digital content. It helped me fully flesh out my ideas and organize the outline and make any edits I wanted quickly and cleaning. So much so that I found myself having fun with it and created 5 eBooks. Check out my store to see them, "Life Optimized" is free for you to check it out.
- Garmin Wearable: Perfect for fitness enthusiasts who want detailed, real-time health data. I have the Lily 2 and I love that it's prettier than an Apple Watch for starters, but I get better sleep data and "body battery" insights and stress levels have been life changing for me. I don't think I can live without this thing now, and can we talk about the battery life? Amazing.
- Renpho Scale: Great for health-conscious individuals focused on weight and body composition tracking. Good starter tool for a health journey. Great insights and seems to be pretty accurate.
- SmartGym: Best for gym-goers who like structured, data-driven workout plans. I would suggested you have a base knowledge of how to structure workouts for your goals, but for the cost I think there are better apps out there for the same thing or better.
If you’re a productivity junkie or someone who thrives on automation, these tools could be exactly what you need.
How Would You Use AI to Save Time?
AI tools have opened the door to a world where mundane tasks are handled with a few clicks, giving us more freedom to focus on what truly matters. But how would you use AI to reclaim your time? Would you automate your to-do list, track fitness goals, or try something else entirely? Share your thoughts —I’d love to hear your ideas!
Conclusion: AI as the Ultimate Productivity Hack
This experiment proved that AI isn’t just a tech buzzword—it’s a practical solution for saving time and working smarter. While no tool is perfect, the time saved across tasks was undeniable. Whether you’re a busy parent, an entrepreneur, or a fitness enthusiast, there’s likely an AI tool that can simplify your life.
Remember, though, AI is here to assist—not replace—the human touch. So, explore, experiment, and let these tools take care of the small stuff, so you can focus on what truly matters. After all, time saved is time well spent!
